Threads cut, rolled and formed to your print
FORMET manufactures threading chasers and the production tooling that runs alongside them: tangential and circular chasers, flat and cylindrical thread rolling dies, fastener heading tools, and pipe threading dies. Tools are produced to your drawing, your sample or your machine model, in the tool steels and coatings the application calls for, and are proven out before they reach your production line.
FORMET manufactures tangential and circular threading chasers for external thread cutting on bars, bolts, rods and industrial components. Profiles are engineered around thread form, pitch, material, machine configuration and production volume, and chasers are supplied as matched sets so every insert in the head shares the same profile and height.

Rolling forms the thread instead of cutting it, so the grain follows the thread profile and the finished fastener is stronger than a cut thread. We produce flat dies in matched pairs and cylindrical dies for through-feed and in-feed machines, with coating and surface treatment selected for the work material and the expected run length.

Fastener production needs more than threads. We supply the heading, forming and wear tooling for cold forming lines that produce bolts, screws, rivets, pins and specials, designed with the forming sequence in mind so a worn station can be replaced without re-qualifying the whole set.

For pipe, conduit and reinforcement work we produce threading dies to the standard forms used in plumbing, irrigation and structural applications, plus special forms where no standard die exists. Rebar threading chasers and tangential die heads for coupler production are built to the same tolerance and hardness requirements as the fastener tooling.

Tooling is only as good as the setup and the inspection around it. We build the jigs, fixtures, V-blocks and clamping tools that hold the part during machining, and the gauges used to verify the thread after it is cut or rolled. Ordering the gauge with the tool means the inspection method is agreed before the first part is produced.

Where a tool replaces an existing one, we reverse-engineer from the worn part so the new tool drops into the same holder. Send a drawing, a worn tool, a sample thread or the machine and die head model; we confirm the thread form, pitch, material and hardness, propose the tool steel and coating, and quote the tool with its lead time.

Threading chasers, rolling dies and fastener tooling
Tangential and circular threading chasers
Tangential chasers cut threads in a single pass on automatic lathes and threading heads, which keeps cycle times short on high-volume parts. We produce tangential chaser sets and circular (radial) chasers for the common die head families, matched to the thread form, pitch and material you are cutting. Chasers are supplied as matched sets so that every insert in the head shares the same profile and height, and we keep the drawing on file so repeat sets arrive identical to the first.
Thread rolling dies, flat and cylindrical
Thread rolling forms the thread instead of cutting it, so the grain of the material follows the thread profile and the finished fastener is stronger than a cut thread. We manufacture flat rolling dies in matched pairs and cylindrical rolling dies for through-feed and in-feed machines, including dies with notches, lead-in geometry and reduced-diameter sections for shoulder bolts and special fasteners. Surface treatment and coating are selected for the work material and the expected run length.
Fastener heading and forming tooling
Fastener production needs more than threads. We supply heading dies, punches, forming die blocks, swaging dies, knurling tools and the wear parts that go with them, for cold forming lines that produce bolts, screws, rivets, pins and specials. Tooling is designed with the forming sequence in mind, so the stations share the same reference geometry and a worn station can be replaced without re-qualifying the whole set.
Pipe threading dies and special thread forms
For pipe and conduit work we produce threading dies to the standard thread forms used in plumbing, irrigation and structural applications, plus special forms where a standard die does not exist. Rebar threading chasers and die heads for coupler production are part of the same family, and they are built to the same tolerance and hardness requirements as the fastener tooling above.
Jigs, fixtures and thread gauges
Tooling is only as good as the setup around it. We also build the jigs, fixtures, V-blocks and clamping tools that hold the part during machining, and the thread ring and plug gauges used to verify the thread after it is cut or rolled. Ordering the gauge with the tool means the inspection method is agreed before the first part is produced.
How to order threading tooling
Send a drawing, a worn tool, a sample thread or the machine and die head model. We confirm the thread form, pitch, material and hardness, propose the tool steel and coating, and quote the tool with its lead time. Where the tool replaces an existing one, we reverse-engineer from the worn part so the new tool drops into the same holder. First articles are measured and documented before the tool ships, and the drawing stays on file for repeat orders.
