Engineering & OEM Solutions

Engineering support that begins before the first production part.
We work with customers to convert ideas, drawings, existing components and performance requirements into manufacturable products. Our international engineering and manufacturing structure supports fast response, practical DFM and a controlled path from development through PPAP and production.Drawings and specifications are reviewed under NDA, and manufacturability, material and tooling questions are resolved before the design is frozen, while changes are still inexpensive. The result is a part that is ready for tooling, documented for approval and planned for the volume it will be produced in.

From Concept to Production

OEM manufacturing at FORMET covers two kinds of programs: build-to-print parts made to an established customer design, and development projects where we take part in the design itself. In both cases one team runs the program from design for manufacturing review and prototypes through tooling, PPAP approval and repeat supply.

OEM Manufacturing:
A Reliable, Expedited Process

A typical OEM manufacturing program moves through four stages. Design: the drawing or concept is reviewed for manufacturability, and material and process are agreed. Development: prototypes or pre-production samples confirm fit and function before the production tool is committed. Testing: samples from the production tool are measured, documented and submitted for the customer’s approval. Manufacturing: serial production runs under a control plan, with lot traceability and deliveries scheduled to the customer’s releases. The same team stays with the part after launch. Engineering changes are handled through a revised drawing and, where needed, a new approval, so the specification the customer signed off is the one being produced – whether it is the first production lot or a reorder years later.

For customers who already have a proven design, our contract manufacturing services start from the approved drawing and specification. We confirm the process, prepare the approval documents and deliver the parts packed and labeled to your receiving requirements.
