Engineered Plastics

Engineered for performance long before production begins.
We develop and manufacture functional engineered plastic components for industrial and OEM applications where dimensional consistency, mechanical performance, electrical insulation, environmental resistance, weight reduction and repeatable production are critical. Our capabilities extend beyond conventional injection molding. We work with customers to evaluate component geometry, material performance, tooling requirements, tolerances and production volumes before moving into high volume manufacturing.
Engineered plastics – injection molded plastic components for OEMs

From Material Selection to High Volume Production

FORMET supplies engineered plastic components for industrial and OEM programs – injection-molded, insert-molded and assembled parts produced to customer drawings. Each program starts with the application: loads, temperature, electrical insulation and outdoor exposure decide which engineering plastic is specified, and tooling is planned around the expected annual volume.

Engineered Plastic Components:
Materials & Grades

The resins listed here are the ones most often specified for engineered plastic components, but the final grade is always confirmed against the application before a tool is built. Glass-fiber filled polyamide suits structural brackets, polypropylene and HDPE suit outdoor utility parts, and acetal or PBT suit small precision parts that need low friction or tight dimensions. UV stabilizers, flame-retardant grades and color matching are specified where the part requires them.

Material data travels with production: material certificates are issued per lot and identify the resin and its lot number, so a part in the field can be traced back to the batch it was molded from. When a metal part is converted to plastic, prototype samples are evaluated for fit and function before the tool design is frozen.

Our custom injection molding services cover single-cavity tools for low volumes and multi-cavity tools for repeat programs. Where a part needs metal inserts, threads or a second material, insert molding or overmolding is planned together with the tool, so the finished component arrives ready for assembly.
